Baltic 21 Institute for Sustainable Industry is a network for research institutes, universities, companies, business associations and authorities.

It works for catalysing sustainable development of the industrial sector in the Baltic Sea region; bridging knowledge gaps between countries.

Baltic 21 Institute for Sustainable Industry

Baltic 21, the initiative for sustainable development in the Baltic Sea region (BSR), works with seven different economic sectors, one of them being industry.

The Baltic 21 Institute for Sustainable Industry was established to catalyse the work for sustainable development in the industrial sector. It is a network with representatives in the different countries in the Baltic Sea region. They co-ordinate the work in the different countries (more information about the national co-ordinators can be found on the members pages).

The Baltic 21 Institute for Sustainable Industry works in different ways in order to extend and improve co-operation on research and development, knowledge and technology transfer in the BSR:
  • Initiation and development of joint projects aiming at transfer of knowledge, technology and environmental techniques
  • Training and education programmes
  • Improving the network of:
- Research Institutes
- Universities
- Environmental Engineering Businesses
- Manufacturing businesses
- Governmental environmental participants
Information Technology plays an important role for the Baltic 21 Institute. The homepage is an integrated part of the institute. Interested actors that work for sustainable development can join the network, find partners for projects or exchange information.
