Agenda 21

Agenda 21 is an action programme for sustainable development. Agenda 21 was adopted in June 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCEP) in Rio de Janeiro.

At the Rio conference 1992 the participating countries agreed on common strategies for solution of some of the most difficult problems the world is faced to. Major issues are the exploitation of resources, growing poverty and health problems. The problems are tight connected to each other. There is a need for a global strategy in order to be able to reach a solution.

To get the global strategy working all over the work, Agenda 21 is to be implemented locally.
